Capital Maritime Group was proud to participate in the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) Spring Members Meeting, held in Athens on 29 and 30 April 2026. The gathering brought together leading figures from across the global maritime community to advance one of the sector's most pressing priorities: translating integrity commitments into tangible, on-the-ground practice.

A defining moment of the meeting was a virtual address by IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, whose words set a clear tone for the two days of discussion that followed.

"Standards and guidance only matter if they are implemented on the ground."
— Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General, International Maritime Organization (IMO)

His message reinforced the vital role of integrity, transparency and collective action in supporting safe, secure and efficient international shipping, while highlighting the strong alignment between the IMO’s World Maritime Day theme, “From Policy to Practice,” and MACN’s ongoing work.

The discussions addressed several important areas, including:

  • The real-world integrity challenges faced by captains and crew
  • Practical tools such as digital KYC solutions, port-risk alerts and MACN helpdesks
  • Nigeria’s National Single Window and its contribution to streamlining trade documentation and cargo clearance procedures

The meeting provided valuable insights into strengthening operational preparedness, supporting seafarers and promoting responsible business practices across the global maritime industry.

Capital Maritime Group remains committed to contributing to industry-wide efforts that advance transparency, integrity and responsible shipping.
